Chairperson Professor M. Joan Winch A.M. B, App Sc., MPH&TM, Hon LLD.; Citizen of Year 1986; Sasakawa Health Prize; State & National Aboriginal of Year 1988; Ghandi, King, Ikedia Peace Award (USA); Soka Uni. Medal (Japan); John Curtin Medal, Fellow Curtin Uni. Joan Winch (Heath) Mother, Martu, Father, Menang, was born in Perth Western Australia and grew up in the Fremantle area. Developed an internationally acclaimed education program focused on preventative, holistic medicine, community participation and integrating Indigenous practices and values. Keynote Speaker in Australia and overseas. Participated in State, National and International panels including World Health Advisory Council (Geneva). First Aboriginal woman on Premiers Women’s Advisory Council, W.A.; State Director for Aboriginal Hostels Australia amd currently writing up the history of Marr Mooditj Foundation as a PhD. Deputy Chairperson Jean Boladeras Jean Boladeras has been a Committee member of Marr Mooditj Foundation since 2002 and is a Ballardong woman from the York area. She has six children and fourteen grandchildren. Jean has a Master’s Degree in Indigenous Research, and a Double Major Bachelor’s Degree. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Curtin University. Treasurer Kenneth Latham: Kenneth Latham has been a Committee member of Marr Mooditj Foundation since 2006 and is an Indigenous man born in Middle Swan. His mother is from Kojonup and his father comes from Yalgoo. For the past 20 years, Kenneth has worked in the government and non government sectors in Perth and in Victoria, currently Kenneth is employed at the Salvation Army, Perth and has the position of Aboriginal Liaison Officer in the Transitional Support Service (TSS). The Service aims to support young people state-wide in the transition between care and interdependent status in the community. TSS is dedicated to the formation of healthy and appropriate support networks for young people Committee Members: Cheryl Phillips Cheryl Phillips has been a board member of Marr Mooditj Foundation for the past two years. Cheryl is a Noongar woman and lives and work here in Perth. She is a graduate of Marr Mooditj and completed the Aboriginal Health Worker training in 1998. Currently Cheryl is employed at the Canning Division of General Practice. The Division conducts and promotes five Aboriginal Health programs to the Aboriginal community in the Canning District and enjoys working at the Canning Division with the Aboriginal Primary Health Care Team which is staffed by eleven Aboriginal people. Lennett Sandy Lennett Sandy has been a Committee member of Marr Mooditj Foundation since 2005 and Lennett is a Noongar woman from the South West of W.A. Lennette has been married for 33 years and has two children and five grandchildren and is employed at Australia Post, Western Australia, she first started with the company on a 12 months Indigenous traineeship as a Postal Service Officer. She is currently the Aboriginal Employment Coordinator and has held the position for 10 years. Her work involves the recruitment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within Western Australia. A highlight of Lennett’s career was when she completed a Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Curtin University. Pat Dudgeon Pat Dudgeon is from Beniol Bardi and Gija people of the Kimberly. She attended Perth to undertake studies in Psychology and afterwards joined the Centre for Aboriginal Studies at Curtin as a lecturer in 1987. Pat was appointed Head of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in 1990 and has lead the Centre through signficant growth and change. Since then it has maintained national leadership as an important provider. She retired from this position and still is currently activley involved with the Aboriginal Community and has a committment to social justice for Aboriginal poeple. Pat has participated in numerous community services activites and was a member for the parole board of Western Australia for several years, and was a Psychology in the defence force. Currently Pat is an adjunct Professor with the School for Indigenous Studies, the University of Western Australia and works as an consultant. |
